Back in 2018, I began a series of studies recreating locations from cartoons I enjoyed, but with a twist of realism. This process allowed me to hone my hard surface modeling skills, as well as my ability to create convincing shaders and lighting setups. These are my two favorite experiments, attempting to capture the magic of Gravity Falls’ Mystery Shack and Futurama’s Planet Express. As a secondary experiment, I created brief establishing shots to get a sense for what these locations, shaders, and lighting setups looked like in motion.
